Energy Efficiency
Tips ....

Lower Your Water Heating Costs

Water heating can account for 14% - 25% of the energy consumed in your home. Turn down the temperature of your water heater to the warm setting (120° F). You'll avoid scalding your hands at the same time that you save money.

Energy Star Appliances

You can save money while conserving energy by switching to ENERGY STAR appliances in your home and office. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that typically use 10-15% less energy and water than standard models.

What are ENERGY STAR appliances? Products that earn the ENERGY STAR label prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. ENERGY STAR is a registered mark owned by the U.S. government.

Are ENERGY STAR appliances more expensive? Yes, many of the ENERGY STAR models carry a higher price tag than the standard models. But the money you save on utility bills over the life of the ENERGY STAR appliance more than makes up for the higher initial cost.

Can I get a rebate to help with the cost of ENERGY STAR appliances? GCEA and our energy supplier, Tri-State Generation and Transmission, are ENERGY STAR partners. We offer an Energy Efficiency Rebate Program to help offset the cost of replacing old appliances with new ENERGY STAR appliances. For a list of rebates available to GCEA members, click here
