Energy Efficiency
Tips

LED light bulbs are a great way to save money on your electricity bill. They use up to 75% less energy than old, incandescent bulbs.

*****

Save energy by preventing phantom loads - energy that is used by appliances and electronics even when they are turned off. Plug TV and stereo systems into a power strip and turn off all the peripherals with the flip of one switch.

Insulate Colorado

Gunnison, Colorado - Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) and the City of Gunnison awarded grant to offer insulation rebates

On July 14, 2008, the Governor's Energy Office (GEO) awarded Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) and the City of Gunnison a $25,000 matching grant to participate in the Insulate Colorado Program.

By forming a partnership to apply for this grant, Gunnison County Electric Association and the City of Gunnison have demonstrated their support for a regional approach to advancing Colorado's New Energy Economy. They joined more than 40 local governments, including Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte, in offering the Insulate Colorado rebates to homeowners,

GCEA and the City of Gunnison each matched the GEO funds to implement the program. Rebates were made available to residents who hired certified contractors to install attic or exterior wall insulation and air sealing upgrades. The GEO grant provided a 20% rebate, up to a maximum of $300 to qualified applicants. GCEA provided an additional 5% rebate, up to a maximum of $75, for a total possible rebate of $375. During the grant period, GCEA gave rebates to 49 GCEA members totalling $11,392.85.

Rebates are no longer available through GCEA. For information on other funding sources visit www.rechargecolorado.com.
