You may also fill out the Start Electric Service form below, and a Member Support Specialist from GCEA will contact you to guide you through the process.  The form below is NOT a Member Application, it is to assist Member Support Specialists to make your transition to a new service as easy as possible.  For any questions, please reach out to GCEA at 970-641-3520

New Construction Service Request

To initiate new electrical service or to make changes to an existing service, please fill out either the "Residential Load Form" or the "Commercial Load Form" and return to GCEA by fax, email or in person. If there are any questions about these forms, please contact a Member Support Specialist at 970-641-3520.

GCEA recommends that you contact us at least one (1) month prior to planned construction. A GCEA Engineer will coordinate a field inspection with you or your designated representative. The Engineer will then calculate an estimate for Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) costs and generate an application for electrical service. CIAC estimates are valid for 30 days. Once the application is completed, signed and returned with payment for all charges, including CIAC, deposits and service fees that may apply according to Policy R-4, GCEA will schedule the job for construction. The average wait time for construction is two weeks.

Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) is prohibited from connecting any electrical service until an electrical inspection is acquired from the State of Colorado. A permit may be obtained from our office or you may download one from the State of Colorado's website. You may also contact the State of Colorado's Denver headquarters at 303-894-2300. GCEA is prohibited from recommending electricians; please obtain a listing from the local phone book or use local references.
